ONE PLANET
How to Save the Planet – In conversation with Dr. Jane Goodall DBE, Tara Shine and Anna Kernahan

With the United Nations Climate Change Conference, also known as COP26, scheduled to be held in Glasgow, Scotland this November, the NI Science Festival is honoured to present an inter-generational conversation on the key issues facing the planet and what we need to do to influence policy makers and the public in this crucial year.

We are delighted to welcome legendary Ethologist and Conservationist Dr. Jane Goodall, DBE, Founder of the Jane Goodall Institute & UN Messenger of Peace. Through nearly 60 years of ground-breaking work, Dr. Jane Goodall has not only shown us the urgent need to protect chimpanzees from extinction; she has also redefined species conservation to include the needs of local people and the environment. Today she travels the world, speaking about the threats facing chimpanzees and environmental crises, urging each of us to take action on behalf of all living things and planet we share.

Dr Tara Shine is an Environmental Scientist, working freelance as an adviser to governments, world leaders and policy makers on climate change, climate justice and sustainable development. Her book ‘How to Save Your Planet One Object at a Time’ was released in April this year to critical acclaim.

Anna Kernahan is a 17-year-old climate activist, the founder of Fridays for Future in Belfast and the only weekly climate striker in Northern Ireland. Anna is passionate about the climate crisis and activism to bring about real change.

Hosted by wildlife biologist, broadcaster, filmmaker, and conservationist Lizzie Daly.

This event is presented in partnership with British Council Northern Ireland as part of its programme of climate-change related activities, taking place in the run up to COP26.
