FameLab is a global science communication competition designed to inspire, motivate and develop young scientists and engineers to actively engage with the public and stakeholders.
The 2021 Ireland competition was won in September by Tammy Strickland, a researcher at the Reschke ChronoEpilepsy Lab in RCSI. Speaking of her victory Tammy said, “It was a huge honour to speak in the final of FameLab Ireland and to be given an opportunity to both spread epilepsy awareness publicly and to discuss my exciting research with Dr Cristina Reschke on circadian rhythms. To be chosen as the national winner out of a group of very talented people was completely astonishing!“. Tammy represented Ireland at the Semi-finals (you can watch the recording here ).
Thousands of viewers tuned in from all over the world to watch 23 contestants battle it out in FameLab International semi-final heats and voted for their favourite talks.
The semi-final judges’ selection, together with the audience vote winners Letago Kgomoeswana and Sirawit Ittisoponpisan, will now progress through to the International Final which was live-streamed on the FameLab YouTube channel on 25 November at 16.00 GMT.
