One year ago my first book, How to Save Your Planet One Object At a Time was published on Earth Day (22 April 2020). As is natural for any first time author, I was excited to share my book with the world and see physical copies of it on shelves in bookshops and in people’s hands. I imagined signing copies and having a book launch. But it wasn’t to be. The Pandemic drove my book launch online and I had to wait months to see my book in the shops. It was not as I imagined, but nevertheless people supported my book and spread the word and found that locked down in their homes the messages in my book were more relevant than ever.
This Earth Day, as spring brings new life and gives us all hope of a new beginning, we are remined of how much we need nature for our physical and mental health. Finding new ways to live on Planet Earth which are kinder, healthier, and less demanding and wasteful of natural resources is a great opportunity to promote wellness, fairness and happiness.
My book aims to make sustainability and climate action something for everyone. You don’t need to be ‘green’ to find inspiration and ideas to make practical changes to everyday habits and objects. Whether you are interested in cooking, technology, gardening, DIY, cycling or fashion you will find information and lots of things you can do to reduce the environmental impact of your daily life. Taking action and using your influence to share what you learn with others in your family, community and workplace is a key role you can play in shaping the systemic change we need to transform society for the better.
