Business Fights Poverty COP 26 Summit

Business Fights Poverty hosted three days of highly interactive events bringing together voices and insights from across the globe, from business, NGOs, academia and government. Leaders shared the latest thinking on the role of business in ensuring climate justice. Connections were deepened and new relationships were built to drive forward collaborative action.

Dr Tara Shine participated in today’s “How do Businesses Put People at the Heart of Climate Action?” online webinar.

Climate change is affecting people. But it affects us unequally and in different ways. This session examined why, where and what business action looks like – to help people everywhere become more resilient and more prepared for climate change. Tara was a panellist alongside Katie Hoard and Lisa Manley, with moderation by Katie Hyson.

Interview on IPCC report with Philip Boucher Hayes

Dr Tara Shine walked Philip Boucher-Hayes through a harrowing report by the ITCC on Climate Change. She outlined that although the extremes of Climate Change do undoubtedly lie ahead, there are plans and policies in place to tackle this crisis . If they are acted on, and we reduce emissions to net zero by 2050, we will be able to stabilise Global warming and maintain temperatures that are safe for us and our eco-system.

Irish scientist keen to unburden young people of weight of climate challenge in TV lecture

The Royal Institution lecture has been a Christmas tradition in Britain since 1825, when it was initiated by the renowned scientist Michael Faraday at a time when organised education for the young was scarce on the ground.

The lectures continue to this day but have become engaging, mind-expanding BBC Four television programmes for people of all ages.

Irish environmental scientist Tara Shine will be part of a threesome delivering their take on the world during this year’s programmes.
